In 2016, Lyttelton Lights were seeking to grow from a home-based business model to a custom fitted workshop. Part of this project was the introduction of a fresh brand. Their vision was to elevate their brand perception in order to gain market presence, increase sales and connect with more distributors.
Typography and colour were to be kept luxurious without being overstated with only a minor logo evolution required. A signature brand pattern and photography style guides were also created.
A key element of this expansion was to develop premium packaging for their candles, which were previously sold unboxed. This packaging needed to align to a luxury product offering.
We worked closely with Lyttelton Lights to develop a substantial box with magnetic closing, which both protects the candle and brings a premium finish.
All boxes are embossed with Lyttelton Lights signature pattern in an elegant gold foil, matching their 22ct gold screen printed candles, and finished with a matt laminate.
We planned and directed the brand photography and designed a timeless product catalogue. Also key to the positioning was the development of upmarket wholesale boxes so that retailers experienced a luxurious, branded experience from the moment their delivery arrived.
The brand position is working well and Lyttelton Lights are continuing to grow. The packaging design was also awarded Bronze at the 2017 Best Awards, which recognises excellence in the New Zealand design industry.
